Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

Since the birth of video games, hundreds of different types of consoles have came out. Multiple companies have released their own versions of consoles. The top companies and consoles include the  Sony Playstation, Microsoft Xbox, and Nintendo Wii. It’s no question that Microsoft and Sony go head to head every year whether it be their consoles or their games. In the first year of both consoles being out, Playstation strived strong while Xbox stuggled to kick off. According to http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/05/technology/playstation-4-faces-resurgent-rivals-in-xbox-one-and-wii-u.html?_r=0  “Sony and Microsoft have not said how well their systems sold in December, but it is a safe bet that the PlayStation 4 still has an overall sales edge on Xbox One. In mid-November, Microsoft said it was on the verge of shipping its 10 millionth Xbox One, while the previous month Sony said it had shipped 13.5 million PlayStation 4s.” In this case, I’d say that Playstation is the Cash Cow out of all the gaming consoles out right now. After reading the article http://www.theverge.com/2014/1/23/5338162/microsoft-q2-2014-financial-earnings I would place Xbox One in the Question Mark category. “Microsoft has published its Q2 2014 earnings report, and the company has made $6.56 billion in net income on $24.52 billion in revenue. Revenue has increased by 14 percent from the same period last year, and net income increased by 2.8 percent.” I believe mobile gaming is in the Star category right now. Mobile gaming has become a leisure and convenience for many people. With mobile gaming comes an ease to be able to play games anywhere you want. It is as easy as pulling out your phone and turning it on. The connected world of the Internet gives us the connections to mobile casinos and the ability to play their games at a moment’s notice.” This quote was found in the article from http://www.androidheadlines.com/2016/04/the-rise-of-mobile-gaming-on-the-go.html . I would place Nintendo and PC gaming into the Dog category due to the lack in sales and interest.

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

I believe that customer service plays a big role in your whole shopping experience. It can decide whether or not you return to that store again or if you even buy any items in the first place from that company. "Instead, it relies on customer service so good that customers not only come back but also tell their friends. More than 75 percent of Zappos’ sales come from repeat customers. " Intro to Marketing, Pg 3. An example of a good customer service experience I had was one time I was out shopping at Zia Records, a local record store here in town, and I was having trouble finding a certain CD I’ve been looking for. One of the store employees was walking around and asked if I needed any help. I asked him to help me find the CD I was looking for. He took me to the section of the store where we would find it and it was apparently sold out. Their inventory said they should still have some copies. So he helped me look for the misplaced CD until we eventually found it. About 10-15 minutes pass and one of us finds it. The case was slightly damaged and scratched. Although the CD was fairly cheap already, the employee took an additional 10 percent off of it. I found this experience great because not only did the employee spend 15 plus minutes helping me find a CD, he added on an extra discount on top of it. He made sure that he was going to do all he could to find that CD and making sure that the customer was satisfied. I would 100 percent recommend Zia Records to anyone who is looking for a rercord/novelty/tv/movie store. Not only do they have endless interesting things to look at, they make sure that their customers are always taken care of.

Week 1 EOC: My Voice

I am an Audio Engineer. Ever since I was young, I knew that I wanted to have a career in audio. Whether it was be a drummer for a band, set up live shows, run shows or just anything that was related to being around live music and bands. When I was six years old, I got my first drum kit. That is really what got it started for me. A few years after that I got my first electric guitar. Ever since then, all I’ve wanted to do is to play and be around music. I’ve had a great experience at The Art Institute of Las Vegas. I’ve got to meet some really awesome people and get a lot of hands on experience with the audio equipment. The main goal for me is to eventually run live sound either at a venue or touring with a band and running their sound. The opportunities you have once you get into the field is endless and that’s what makes me hopeful for the future. One day you could be running sound for a concert and the next you’re working on sound for a film. There is always work to be done in this field, whether it’s for film, T.V., artists or bands and that is something that interests and excites me about heading into this career field.
